Genocide Intervention Network – CW Fellowship Application Deadline

Genocide Intervention Network has asked us to spread the word about the up-coming Nov 1 deadline for applications to the Carl Wilkens Fellowship Program.

If you know someone who might be interested in this, details are listed below.

Thanks for helping us build the anti-genocide constituency!

Teresa

The Carl Wilkens Fellowship is a selective, year-long program that provides a diverse set of emerging citizen leaders with the tools and training to build sustained political will to end genocide. Seeking to bridge the gap between thought and action in the anti-genocide movement, the goal of the Carl Wilkens Fellowship is to develop effective leaders in communities across the United States who have acquired the skills and fostered the relationships necessary to influence and shape US policies on genocide.

In its inaugural year, the Carl Wilkens Fellowship program has worked with twenty (20) individuals from communities across the country and from a diversity of backgrounds – from retired corporate lawyers to filmmakers to computer programmers to communications specialists. Each one of them has been impacted by what is going on in Darfur, in Burma, and in other areas of the world. Through the Fellowship program, each one of these individuals has taken it upon themselves to acquire the tools and resources to build sustained political will within their communities for the prevention and cessation of genocide.

The Carl Wilkens Fellowship 2010 application is due by November 1 and is available at:

Ben Ferencz on international justice and ending war

Ben Ferencz  (click here)

http://www.pbs.org/pov/reckoning/video_ferencz.php

Watch this powerful  6 minute video of Ben Ferencz, from "The Reckoning".    He was a 27-year-old lawyer,  who prosecuted 22 German officers at Nuremberg for murdering over a million people in World War II.  Talks about his passion to end war in this world, his role in the development of international justice and why every country — including the United States — needs to be subject to the rule of law.

Then you will want to watch this 1 minute actual clip of Ben at Nuremberg
