Write your heart, Carl. Don't worry about punctuation or spelling or grammar. (Yes, I would have docked you for errors on those 40 years ago!) Those things can be corrected by editors and proofreaders. Only YOU can write your heart. The heart has no punctuation or spelling or grammar. It is what it is.

Congratulations on your years with Teresa as your best friend. You are indeed blessed, to have such a supportive woman who loves you enough to let you be separated this anniversary.

On a less serious note, your latest entry was a very small font. Please take pity on the elderly and keep using the large font which can be read through cataracts!!! :-) Thanks!

Your title of this blog is very insightful. How many times (a day) are we irritated by delays?

You got some unscheduled reflection time. What a gift! Delays certainly are not all bad!

Mindfulnees. I have a feeling you will be reMINDed of a lot of good and sad and terrifying times whilst in Kigali. Hopefully you'll find time to sit in quiet and just be mindful. Breathing in and being mindful of where you are, why you're there, why you were there - sleeping in the hall - those years ago.

And when you can, I hope you write it down. So that in time the rest of us can hear your voice, feel your heart. Remember he passion you showed when sharing your anger at our country when it so unconscionably failed to respond to the genocide. When the president turned his back (it's one of his greatest regrets of his presidency), and I drove past posters about a place that was "over there somewhere" - a place I though I had no connection to.

Make us feel it -- the connection. Not just through your connection but in our own hearts as we hear yours.

Three cheers!!! Thanks for sharing your experiences so selflessly. You are an awesome writer - I can hear you saying what I read. Very genuine. And generous. Looking forward to the book drafts.
