Hi Steph,
This is a great personal example of many articles that I have read in my study on development theory and NGO capacity building. Cultural preferences versus modern medical knowledge. It is good to experience this first hand so that you can contemplate next steps in your purpose.
I have forwarded your blog to some of the MIR students at SFSU. You may hear from some, or they may just be interested in reading your news.
Hang in there! Nancy

Plans and expectations... I can appreciate your frustrations and I bet by now you have had a chance to sit down with the church pastor and get an understanding of his thinking (though a real understanding will take many conversations and much time:). Rwandans hold guest in such high esteem and I'm sure they felt very very awkward about this.... my experience would say that the youth were so so happy to have visitors from America... no matter what the workshop content was. Looking forward to hearing about what comes next! Courage, Carl
